Meggiarin Luciano Goldsmith

The Goldsmith Luciano Meggiarin was born in Venice, in Novembre, 1958. He attended the antique School of the Arts of the Carmini 1974-1977, where he received the Bauhaus formation from which he then gradually left, developing a formal research. He had various experiences in laboratories, in Venice with “ Maestro Guido Carbonich” and in Vicenza as a model-making goldsmith which helped him to mature in the techniques of his jewelry-sculpting.

The meeting in 1987 with goldsmiths Domingo de La Cueva and Gianni Pappacena at the Galleria Traghetto and at the Scoletta dei Battiloro in Venice, was the beginning of the formal interpretation of his own work.

In his years of apprenticeship and in the development of his research,he became fascinated by the sculptures by Augusto Murer and the paintings by Murer’s son, Franco. This was vital nourishment to the goldsmith in which he identifies its influences in his use of particularities, in the sinuousness which elongates and knots to create eurythmical spaces in which the artist give life tochiaroscuro and colouristic effects. These are obtained by making the most of the careful chromatic scale in natural materials or by placement of specially cut stones: coloured sapphires, emeralds with the Brazilian cabouchon cut, Australian opals with their iridescence, creating in this way chromatic combinations of synthesis and original symbiosis.

In the years 1992-1993, the artistic collaboration with sister Eleonora, sculptress, and the academic knowledge che transmitted to him, led him to love even more sculpturing, in a particular way the activity of Auguste Rodin and the solid continuity of Augusto Murer, their nature sculptures,natural chromatic spectrum and the strength in their forms. In this way came about the desire to venture to make some sculptures in wood in stones from Vicenza and in glass.
