The ancient separation between major arts and minor arts relegated these last to a second-rate role, therefore they could not aspire to be creation of aesthetical values, but simple transfer of aesthetical values in the subject in workmanship, applied arts exactly. Yet in front of Luciano Meggiarin's jewels such wall of separation has not a right to be and his goldsmith art becomes art in the narrowest sense of the term: the search for originality in the form and in the colour confers hiscreations the value of work of art.Luciano Meggiarin has attended the ancient School of Art of the Carmini in Venice, where he received a formation of Bauhaus type from which he has gradually moved away developing a search for irrational figurative type. After his studies, he began to work in Vicenza and, in the workshop of this city that for its goldsmith productions enjoys of undisputed international prestige, he learned the ancient techniques of the work. And it is from the fusion of the technical search with the formal study those artistic preciousness spring which we can admire in their birth action in the form of nature appear on the surface with a clever taste for symmetry which work, but that atthe same time, almost breaks the order of the disposition to avoid the risk of monotony, and it creates the asymmetrical with the form and volumes of great harmonic taste. They are lines which stretch out and become knotted creating spaces in which the artist gives life to chiaroscuro and colourful games valorizing the chromatism he gets by bringing out the natural material or by settling stones particularly cut and set :Australian opals with their bright iridescences and beautiful sapphires that create chromatic matchings and original symbiosis.Meggiarin loves nature and his precious objects are a hymn to nature, though he works with ataste for the search of a style which is always new.And we must not forget that Meggiarin is above all a goldsmith who works in close contact with his customers and who creates the new forms by elaborating again his own style in order to meet their wishes and tastes to create something new and interesting without hindering the artistic interest.
